6 DAY GARDEN ROUTE, R62 Dual purpose tour

DAY 1/2
Left Cape Town this morning and headed straight out to Mosselbay, collected the bikes in Robertson and had a great drive.
Keep your eyes on this we are at the Buffalo Rally tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a great party at the buff but now a bed is going to be great!!!




Had a good brekkie at the piont and watched the mass ride go by there are at least 8000 bikes here in mosselbay and the town is alive with bikers everywhere!!




DAY 3
Had a good breakfast at Trawlers and then it was off to do the cadge dive with the white death sharks, the sea was a bit rough and a lot of people on the boat was a bit sick but nothing could damp the spirits when the sharks arrived and man were they big!!!
 

Arrived in Knysna at the hotel and we were so hungry as all our food was in the sea, so we were of to Olde’s for a good peace of meat.

DAY 4
We got up very early as this was going to be a hard day of riding, from Knysna to Uniondale trough the forest and then trough Baviaans to Patensie.





This was 9 hours of intense riding and as Nikos said it felt like holding a jackhammer the whole day. The ride was amazing and the scenery was spectacular.
DAY 5
R62 today started from Patensie and rode to Oudtshoorn  stopping along the way at Meiringspoort for our traditional swim in the waterfall, a great drive and the weather was kind only 32 degrees.





In Oudtshoorn we then went to the Wildlife ranch for the Tigers, Lions and Crocs!!





Stayed with my good friends in Oudtshoorn, always a pleasure!!

Dear Motorradadventures,

This 6-day tour was a real ADVENTURE, a dream come true. Riding in all types of roads from R62 route to dirt roads, makes it an unbelievable experience that I would like to do it again. Riding the Garden route and attending the Buffalo Rally (above 6000 riders) to the rain forests above Knysna and then to the sub- desert in the small Karoo with wild animals in small distances from the bikes and then to the wine lands on route 62 and finally to Cape Town is such a diverse experience that cannot be put into words but to put it into a nutshell I would say that “it was fantastic”. Apart from riding the BMW R 1200 GS which proved that they are not called one of the best all-rounders for nothing, we also managed to fit in a shark cage diving in Mossel Bay, a bush safari at the Buffelsdrift in Oudtshoorn, a visit to the Cango Caves and many more. The hospitality from everyone was excellent from the locals to Hennie and his wife.  Hennie made the tour very pleasant with all the hard work that he put in to making the tour go as planned.
