R62 Tour 8-17 June 2009Another successful R62 tour completed, 10 days of great riding and great times. The weather did not damp our spirits as we embarked on the tour.
Day1
We left Cape Town trough Wellington and over some great mountain passes to spend the night at the warm water in the karoo on the R62.
Day 2
We left the warm water driving some amazing roads along the R62 trough Calitsdorp and on to Oudtshoorn and stayed over in the heart of the karoo at a very special hotel in the middle of nowhere.
Day 3
The camping thing was done and we enjoyed it thoroughly, mind the pun but this was 5 star camping at its best. Sitting around the fire in the karoo is a mind-blowing experience.
Day 4
We had an early start and left for Addo stopping along the way at a good friend to see how the kids are doing, he runs a cheetah-breeding farm in the karoo and we had a chance to play with the cubs, what an experience!
Day 5
After a wonderful previous day the excitement only grew to our next encounter with the animals, this was the big 5 tour after all. We had a appointment with tiger the tiger and with Shuma, Duma and Thabo the African elephants.
Day6
Of to see some city lights in Port Elizabeth and move and shake and jive in the local hotspots
Day 7
From PE we left along the garden route trough Humansdorp and on to Knysna for a scenic ride that was great. Stopped of at the highest bunjy in the world, it was just to high!
Day 8
Driving along the garden route to George, Mosselbay and sleeping over. Went out on the town and it was great.
Day 9
Drove on a scenic route to Agulhas the southern most tip of Africa, what a ride.
Day 10
Last day and we rode the most awesome road back to Cape Town and said our goodbyes at the pub in Blauberg, it was a great time.
